Spotlight On Kiehl's | Five Products I'm Loving

I've been a fan of Kiehl's for a while now. The very first product I tried was the Ultra Facial Cream, which I still love to this day. I actually mentioned it in my first ever blog post, which I'm not going to link here because it's pretty dire, but by all means, go and find it if you fancy a laugh. Of late I've really been getting into skincare rather than makeup, after several months of tricky skin problems that have required some adaptation in my routine. I'm still working on it, but my skin has definitely begun to improve. I thought I'd talk about a few of the products from Kiehl's I've been using of late and how I've been finding them; FYI, this isn't remotely sponsored, I just liked the idea of doing a brand-centric post after reading the amazing BeautyLymin's brand focus series. For real, go and read them all.
The obvious place to start is my old favourite, the Ultra Facial Cream. It's pretty pricey as far as moisturisers go, but I really notice a difference in my skin whenever I bite the bullet and repurchase. I've tried the Ultra Facial Moisturiser as well and just didn't get on with it; while the Cream just soaks straight in and leaves my skin feeling plump and moisturised for hours, the Moisturiser left my skin feeling tacky and almost unclean. The Ultra Facial Cream though is my ultimate backup, and while I try other moisturisers all the time, if I'm having any kind of dehydration or dryness issues, or I'm reacting to something but don't know what, this is what I reach for.
I recently decided that I wanted to try something different to the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, and while I considered the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel that everyone raves about, in the end, I plumped for the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. Generally, I take off my eye makeup with a little of the Garnier Micellar Water, but then I go in with the Ultra Facial Cleanser and a muslin cloth. I like to apply it to damp skin and give my face a little massage while I'm there, then wash it all off with little circular motions with a warm cloth. It melts away makeup and leaves my skin feeling clean but not stripped of all the oils and goodness. I find it to be just the right amount of clean; not squeaky and tight-feeling, and not too slippery and oily. As much as I love the Cleanse and Polish, sometimes I didn't feel quite clean enough; this does the job nicely.
I picked up the tiny 75ml bottle of the Ultra Facial Toner not long ago, as I wanted a very mild exfoliating toner for the morning. I only bought the travel size version because I wanted to see how I got and I'm not made of money. It was only £9 and I actually see this lasting a long time. After cleansing, I sweep it over my face with a cotton pad (when I remember) before applying moisturiser. I find that when I use it my skin feels a lot healthier and looks brighter for the whole day, and I'll definitely be purchasing the larger size when I eventually run out.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate

I'm not really sure why I bought the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate. Not only is the name way too long, but it's not really for my skin type. The primary ingredient is plant-based glycerin, and it's designed to plump the skin and improve moisture retention. I just found that it didn't really do anything for me. I feel like this is aimed more at ageing skin, and while my skin is definitely ageing, it's not really my primary concern right now. I'm worried about dryness, acne, contact dermatitis and redness, which this isn't designed for. From the reviews most people absolutely love it, but it didn't really do much for me. Instead, it actually aggravated my skin, but I was using it when my acne and dermatitis were at their worst, so it's not fair to blame that on this serum. I just think that it didn't help matters. Now that my skin is much improved I may give this another go, but I'm feeling like I'm not really the target market.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Okay, we're going from something that wasn't really for me to something that really is. The Midnight Recovery Concentrate is my new holy grail and I will love it forever. Even as my skin was freaking out with spots, dermatitis and all the rest of it, this made the whole thing more bearable. It massively reduces redness overnight, smoothed out rough, dry skin and generally made my life better. It smells like a lavender dream and basically lulled me to sleep every night. At one point I was using it every single night and I give a good portion of the credit for my improved skin to it. One thing I would say is that it recommends using two to three drops and I was using closer to ten for the desired result. Now that my skin is on the mend I only use about three as my skin doesn't just drink it straight up, and I'm only using it every other night, or if I have a nasty spot rearing its head. I will definitely repurchase when this runs out, and despite my very liberal usage of it I still have about half of the bottle left.
That's yer lot! Let me know if you think there's anything else you think I should try from Kiehl's or if you've tried any of these products!
