L'Oréal Clay Detox Mask | Review

I've already talked about my love for the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask this month, having covered the deep exfoliation end of my face mask favourites, this time I'm writing about a mask that draws all the grime out of your skin and leaves you feeling clean as a whistle.

The L'Oréal pure clay masks are relatively new, and I ummed and ahhed over which one to choose when buying, but eventually settled on the Detox Mask, as I find that's really what clay masks are best for. I feel like clay masks really penetrate deep into the skin and pull all the gunk to the surface, leaving my skin feeling smooth and clean. I always feel like my skin is slightly brighter after using a clay mask, and this one performs better than most.
The pure clay masks are a blend of kaolin, montmorillonite and ghassoul clays, along with a good amount of charcoal. These nigh unpronounceable ingredients (I'm looking at you montmorillonite and ghassoul) seem to do the job, as my skin is always glowing and feels refreshed after use. I just pop it on a dry face for 5-10 minutes, or until dry, then rinse off with warm water. There's no denying it makes a bit of a mess of your sink thanks to the charcoal, but it all washes away easily enough. If like me, you're as blind as the proverbial bat, you'll know that glasses and face masks don't mix, which can lead to some confusion later in the day when you wonder what all that gross black stuff in the sink is because you couldn't see to wash it away earlier.
At £7.99 it's not the cheapest clay mask around, and that is about as much as I would pay for a clay based mask. The skin care oracle Caroline Hirons herself recommends not spending a fortune on them, instead saving your pennies for the skin care items where you can really get your money's worth.

Hopefully, you've enjoyed this post, and if so keep an eye out as this is part of my Blogtober series where I post every day.  Check out my other posts from this month and see whether I actually manage to even think of 31 topics!
