Look Fantastic Beauty Box | August 2016

Remember how I said I was going to cancel my LF subscription about three times? That didn't happen.  August's box is themed around the Best of British Beauty and I've got some great products from brands like REN, Percy & Reed and Bloom & Blossom.

REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist

 First Impressions:
I'm a big fan of REN as a brand, but I'll admit to some scepticism surrounding an anti-pollution mist.  I'll give it a shot, but I expect that it's the kind of thing I'll never remember to use.  I also don't live in a particularly polluted area, here on the edge of nowhere.

Final Impressions:
I'm rather disappointed in this mist.  I didn't really know what to expect, but it just didn't really do anything.  If it was just a cooling mist that smelled nice, I would probably use the whole thing, but I didn't even like the smell of it!  It was a sort of chemical smell and wasn't my cup of tea at all.

RENU Lip and Eye Active Lift

 First Impressions:
This is another product I'm not sure is for me.  It's designed for mature skin, which at 23 I don't think I quite qualify for yet.  While I'm a believer in eye creams, this seems designed more to undo damage that's already done, and since I'm still wrinkle free I don't know what it can really do for me.

Final Impressions:
I didn't see much of a difference after using this for a few days, but then you frequently don't with eye creams.  I'll probably use this up as I always need more eye cream, but won't be repurchasing as it felt a little too thick and left too much residue on my skin for my liking.

Bee Good Vanilla and Honey Lip Balm

 First Impressions:
I've been after a new lip balm for a while so this was well timed!  This smells gorgeous and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Final Impressions:
Smells divine and is intensely moisturising. Job done!

Bloom & Blossom Rejuvenating Facial Spritz

 First Impressions:
I really love a spritz in the summer.  This one contains eleven ingredients designed to refresh your complexion and cool you down as you apply it throughout the day.  It's also supposed to help fight signs of aging, which is always a bonus.

Final Impressions:
I expected to like the REN mist far more than this mist, as I've been underwhelmed by other Bloom & Blossom products in the past, but the opposite happened!  This smells amazing and I keep spritzing it all over myself like a mad woman.  The smell might not be for everyone though, as it is quite medicinal.

 Percy & Reed Wonder Balm

 First Impressions:
I have heard very good things about this product, but my hair tends to resist all attempts at taming it.  Promising to control fly-aways and add shine, I'm hoping this will finally do the trick.

Final Impressions:

I need more of this! I actually found it worked better when worked into the dry ends of my hair but it majorly tamed my fly-aways and left my hair textured but under control.

 Balance Me Congested Skin Serum

 First Impressions:
We all get the odd breakout, and although my skin is radically different after being on roaccuatane for a year about three years ago, I still get the occasional spot.  The Congested Skin Serum is designed to reduce redness and swelling on new spots using natural ingredients.

Final Impressions:
This definitely brought down the swelling and redness on the few spots I tried it on, which means it's alright in my books! I will definitely end up using the whole tube and may well repurchase.

Overall this was a really strong box from Look Fantastic, although my expectations of what I would and wouldn't like were completely turned on their heads!  That's the hallmark of a good beauty box, and the reason I subscribe; I end up trying products I would write off if they weren't already here and paid for.

  1. I feel that the LF boxes this year have been below par compared to last year where there were more makeup and high end brands! xx
